The first edition of the Energy Night Portugal will take place this Friday, June 1st, at Pavilhão do Conhecimento, Ciência Viva, Lisbon. The flagship event of the MIT Portugal Energy Club Portugal, unique of its kind in Portugal, aims to break down barriers and provide direct networking between industry and academia in an informal atmosphere, enhancing projects, contacts and the development of new and exciting ideas. Nandini Basuthakur, Opower‘s Senior Vice President & Managing Director; and Carlos Pimenta, CEEETA‘s Director - Center for Energy Economics, Transport and the Environment have already confirmed there presences. The event will also count with representatives from EDP Innovation, Galp Energia, Galp and Innovation, Endesa, ERSE, Novabase, Logica, Siemens, Alstom, Martifer, Self Energy, ISA, amongst others.
Energy Night Portugal, inspired by the MIT Energy Night, is organized by the MIT Energy Club Portugal that counts with members from several Portuguese universities. The event aims to present, to industry and society, the research that has been carried under the Energy theme in the Portuguese Universities. Technical University of Lisbon, Oporto University, University of Lisbon, University of Aveiro, Coimbra University, University of Algarve, and others, are going to be presenting prototypes and posters under the following themes: Smart Grids, Transportation, Energy Policy, Built Environment, Energy Efficiency and Energy Production.
This event is open to the general public, providing an unique opportunity to exchange knowledge between society, academia and industry, on a theme as important and relevant to society as Energy. According to Joana Abreu, coordinator of the Energy Night Portugal: "The aim is to break down the traditional barriers present in hierarchical Southern Europe societies and bring researchers into direct contact with potential industry partners and the general public".
